Episode 7: The Unlocked Secret
Sana and Arham didn’t stop running until they were sure they were far from the clock tower. They ducked into a small alley, breathing heavily, the brass key still clutched tightly in Arham’s hand.
“Who was that?” Sana asked between breaths, her heart still racing.
Arham shook his head, his eyes scanning the dark street. “I don’t know, but they’re not giving up. Whoever they are, they’re after the same thing we are.”
Sana’s thoughts spun as she tried to process everything. They had the key, but now they had someone following them. She knew they couldn’t stop now. The box held too many answers about their fathers, and it was time to unlock the truth.
“Let’s go back to my place,” Arham said quietly. “We can open the box there.”
Back at Arham’s small apartment, the air was thick with anticipation. The room was dimly lit, and everything felt tense. The brass key sat on the table next to the locked box, both of them symbols of the mystery they were about to unravel.
Sana stared at the box, her stomach in knots. “Are you ready for this?”
Arham nodded, though Sana could see the nervousness in his eyes. “We’ve come this far. There’s no turning back now.”
He picked up the key and, with a deep breath, slid it into the lock. The box clicked open with a soft, almost eerie sound. Slowly, Arham lifted the lid.
Inside, there was a single, small object—a silver locket, old and tarnished, with intricate engravings on the surface.
Sana frowned. “A locket?”
Arham picked it up, examining it closely. “It looks old. But why would this be hidden in the box?”
Sana’s fingers traced the designs on the locket. It felt strangely familiar, as if she had seen it before. “There has to be more to it. Maybe it’s a clue.”
Arham carefully opened the locket. Inside, there was a folded piece of paper and a small photo, faded with age. The photo showed two young men standing side by side, smiling. Sana recognized one of them immediately.
“That’s my father,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Arham nodded, his gaze fixed on the other man in the photo. “And that’s mine.”
Sana felt a lump in her throat as she looked at the two men, their faces so full of life and hope. “They were friends.”
Arham unfolded the piece of paper inside the locket. It was fragile and yellowed, but the writing was still legible. His eyes scanned the note, and as he read it, his expression darkened.
“What does it say?” Sana asked, her heart pounding.
Arham hesitated, then read aloud:
“To our children,
If you’re reading this, it means the time has come. The locket holds the key to what we couldn’t finish. We entrusted it to you because we knew you would be the only ones to understand. The truth lies in the past, but not everything is as it seems. Beware of those who seek it, for they will stop at nothing to take what we hid.

Sana’s mind reeled. “What does that mean? What truth?”
Arham’s jaw tightened. “I don’t know. But this isn’t over. They knew something—something dangerous—and they passed it on to us.”
Sana sat down, her head spinning. “We have to figure out what it is. But how?”
Arham closed the locket and held it up. “The locket is the key. There’s more to it than just the photo. Our fathers hid something in it—something important.”
“But where do we even begin?” Sana asked, feeling overwhelmed.
Arham thought for a moment, then said, “The letter mentioned the past. I think we need to go back to where it all started.”
Sana’s brow furrowed. “What do you mean?”
Arham’s eyes met hers, filled with determination. “The places our fathers spent time together. Their old workplaces, their homes—anywhere they might’ve left more clues.”
Sana felt a surge of fear and excitement at the same time. They were getting closer to the truth, but the danger was growing too. Whoever was after them wouldn’t stop until they got what they wanted.
“Okay,” Sana said, standing up. “Let’s start with my father’s old office. He used to keep everything important there.”
Arham nodded. “It’s a good place to start. But we have to be careful. We’re not the only ones looking for this.”
Sana’s eyes flickered to the window, the memory of the footsteps at the clock tower still fresh in her mind. Whoever was chasing them wouldn’t stop until they found the secret their fathers had hidden.
But now, Sana and Arham had something their pursuers didn’t—the locket. And they were one step closer to uncovering the truth.
Lesson: The truth often comes at a price, but sometimes we must face the shadows of the past to understand who we are and what we’re meant to do.
