Episode 11: Shadows of the Past
Sana and Arham froze, their hearts pounding. The sound of the crash echoed through the underground chamber, making every shadow feel like it was coming alive.
“Did you hear that?” Sana whispered, her voice barely audible.
Arham nodded, his eyes scanning the dark corners of the room. “We’re not alone.”
The two stood still, listening for any other movement. The flickering light cast long, eerie shadows that seemed to dance on the walls, making everything feel even more sinister.
“We need to get out of here,” Sana said, her voice shaking slightly.
Arham took a deep breath. “Let’s move quietly. Stay close.”
They carefully stepped away from the desk, moving toward the metal door they had entered through. But just as they reached it, a figure emerged from the shadows. The man, tall and cloaked in darkness, blocked their path. His face was obscured, but the cold glint in his eyes sent a shiver down Sana’s spine.
“Leaving so soon?” the man’s voice was low and menacing.
Sana’s heart raced. She grabbed Arham’s arm, but he stepped forward, keeping his voice steady. “Who are you? What do you want?”
The man took a step closer, his face now visible under the dim light. He was older, with graying hair and sharp, cold features. There was a look of recognition in his eyes as he glanced between Sana and Arham.
“You don’t know, do you?” the man said, almost mockingly. “You’ve stumbled into something far bigger than you realize.”
Sana’s mind raced. “What do you mean?”
The man smirked, glancing at the old computer behind them. “Your fathers weren’t just scientists. They were part of something much more… dangerous.”
Arham clenched his fists. “What are you talking about?”
The man stepped closer, his gaze locking onto Sana. “This wasn’t just about experiments. It was about control. Power. Your fathers were working on something that could change everything.”
Sana felt a chill run down her spine. “What were they trying to control?”
The man’s expression darkened. “You’ll find out soon enough. But trust me, you’re better off not knowing.”
Before Sana or Arham could respond, the man suddenly lunged at them. Arham pushed Sana behind him, his hand going for something to defend them with, but the man was fast—too fast. In an instant, he had knocked Arham to the ground, pinning him with surprising strength.
“Stop!” Sana shouted, panic flooding her.
The man glanced at her, his cold eyes narrowing. “You’re not leaving this place with that knowledge.”
Sana’s mind raced, and without thinking, she grabbed one of the heavy old tools from the table and swung it toward the man. It hit him on the shoulder, causing him to stumble back, releasing Arham.
“Run!” Sana shouted.
Arham scrambled to his feet, and together they bolted toward the metal door. They could hear the man recovering behind them, his footsteps growing louder as he chased them through the narrow passage.
“We need to lose him!” Arham gasped as they raced up the stairs.
Sana’s heart pounded in her ears as they sprinted through the estate’s crumbling hallways, dodging debris and broken furniture. They could hear the man’s footsteps closing in behind them, and panic surged through her.
“There!” Arham pointed to a door at the end of the hallway. They burst through it, slamming it shut behind them and locking it just as the man reached it.
They stood there, breathless, listening as the man pounded on the other side of the door. But after a moment, the pounding stopped, and everything fell silent.
“Do you think he’s gone?” Sana whispered, her voice trembling.
Arham pressed his ear against the door, listening. After a few tense seconds, he nodded. “I think so. But we can’t stay here.”
Sana nodded, her legs shaking from the adrenaline. “We need to leave this place—now.”
Outside, the cold night air hit them like a wave, but it was a relief compared to the suffocating darkness of the underground chamber. They quickly made their way back to Arham’s car, hearts still racing.
As they drove away from the estate, Sana looked over at Arham, her mind still reeling from what had just happened.
“Who was that man?” she asked, her voice soft.
Arham shook his head, gripping the steering wheel tightly. “I don’t know, but he clearly knows more about our fathers than we do. And whatever they were working on—it was dangerous.”
Sana stared out the window, her thoughts spinning. “Do you think he’ll come after us again?”
Arham glanced at her. “I don’t know. But one thing’s for sure—we can’t let him stop us from finding out the truth.”
Sana nodded, though fear still gnawed at her. They were in deeper than they ever imagined, and now, more than ever, she felt the weight of the secrets their fathers had left behind.
“We need to figure out what they were working on,” she said firmly. “Whatever it was, it was big enough to put our lives in danger.”
Arham nodded. “We’ll start digging. But we have to be careful. Whoever that man is, he’s not the only one who wants to keep this secret buried.”
Lesson: In the search for truth, danger often lies in the shadows. But sometimes, the only way forward is to face those shadows head-on, no matter the risks.
What will Sana and Arham discover about their fathers’ mysterious work? Who is the man chasing them, and what secrets does he hold? Stay tuned for Episode 12!
