Episode 6: Office Talks and Unplanned Interruptions
Scene 1: Morning at the Office
(Ali and Danish are sitting in Ali’s office, both holding cups of coffee. Danish leans back in his chair with a smirk on his face, while Ali looks a little frustrated, staring at his desk. Danish can’t resist asking about the previous day’s events.)
Danish (teasing): “Toh bhai, kal library mein kya scene tha? Propose kar diya ya phir bas sapne dekhte reh gaye?” (So, man, what happened in the library yesterday? Did you propose, or were you just daydreaming?)
(Ali sighs deeply, rubbing his face in frustration.)
Ali (angrily, shaking his head): “Yaar, main bolne hi wala tha! Sab perfect chal raha tha… Sara blush kar rahi thi, aur phir Zoya ki bachi ne sab kharab kar diya!” (Man, I was just about to say it! Everything was going perfectly… Sara was blushing, and then Zoya, that little devil, ruined everything!)
Danish (laughing): “Hahaha! Zoya phir se? Bhai, tumhara proposal ka toh permanent villain hai woh!” (Zoya again? Dude, she’s like the permanent villain of your proposal!)
Ali (disappointed): “Pata nahi kahan se agayi yaar! Sab theek tha, bas phir achanak se dher saari kitaabein gir gayi aur Zoya ka entrance ho gaya, sab khatam.” (I don’t know where she even came from, man! Everything was fine, then suddenly books fall over and Zoya makes her grand entrance. It’s over.)
Danish (wiping a tear from laughing): “Yaar, Zoya ko bolna tha pehle tumhe warning de ke aaye, ‘Breaking News: Tumhari love story ke beech villain ka entry hone wali hai!’” (Man, Zoya should’ve given you a warning first, ‘Breaking News: A villain is about to enter your love story!’)
(Ali slams his coffee cup down, frustrated but also amused at Danish’s joke.)
Ali (sarcastically): “Haan haan, aur phir jo meri haalat thi, uske baad toh main kisi ko propose kya, ghanti bajane layak bhi nahi tha!” (Yeah yeah, and after how I was feeling, I wasn’t even fit to ring a doorbell, let alone propose to someone!)
Danish (chuckling): “Accha, phir ab kya plan hai? Zoya ko kidnapping ka plan banaun kya, taake tum araam se propose kar sako?” (So, what’s the plan now? Should I plan to kidnap Zoya so you can propose in peace?)
Ali (laughing, but still serious): “Yaar, seriously! Kabhi kabhi lagta hai yeh sab casual nahi ho sakta. Har waqt kuch na kuch hota hai! Mujhe direct approach hi karni padegi.” (Man, seriously! Sometimes it feels like this can’t just be casual. Something or the other always happens! I think I need to take a direct approach.)
(Danish, realizing Ali’s frustration, shifts from joking to offering serious advice.)
Danish (sincerely): “Suno, agar tum waqai us se shaadi karna chahte ho, meri ek baat mano. Aunty se baat karo aur directly uske ghar rishta bhej do. Baki Allah pe chhod do, sab theek hoga.” (Listen, if you really want to marry her, take my advice. Talk to your mom and send a proper marriage proposal to her house. Leave the rest to Allah, everything will work out.)
(Ali looks at Danish, considering his words, but still unsure.)
Ali (thoughtful): “Yaar, tujhe lagta hai yehi sahi hai? Sara ne toh ab tak kuch kaha bhi nahi, woh sirf shy thi, mujhe nahi pata woh kya feel karti hai.” (Man, you think that’s the right move? Sara hasn’t said anything yet, she was just shy. I don’t know what she feels.)
Danish (reassuring): “Bro, jo ladki tumhari baaton pe blush kare, woh kuch toh feel karti hai. Aur waise bhi, rishta bhejne mein koi burai nahi. Agar use pasand ho, toh baat ban jaayegi. Agar nahi, toh kam se kam tum apna dil halka kar loge.” (Bro, if a girl blushes at what you say, she’s definitely feeling something. And there’s no harm in sending a proposal. If she likes you, things will work out. If not, at least you’ll get it off your chest.)
(Ali nods, feeling a bit more reassured but still a little nervous.)
Ali (sighing): “Theek hai, baat toh sahi kar raha hai. Lekin propose karne ka ek proper time hona chahiye.” (Okay, you’re right. But there has to be a proper time to propose.)
Danish (grinning): “Bas Zoya ko door rakhna! Wahi sabse zaruri baat hai!” (Just make sure to keep Zoya away! That’s the most important thing!)
(Ali laughs, the frustration easing as he realizes Danish might have a point.)
Ali (with a small smile): “Us Zoya ki bachi ko door rakhne ka ek full-proof plan banana padega!” (We’re going to need a full-proof plan to keep that devil Zoya away!)
Danish (laughing): “Bilkul! Phir tumhare shaadi ke card par likha hoga: ‘Invitation for wedding… No Zoya allowed!’” (Exactly! And then your wedding card will say: ‘Invitation for wedding… No Zoya allowed!’)
(They both laugh, and Ali, though still nervous, feels a bit lighter about the situation, knowing he has a friend like Danish to guide him through the chaos.)
Scene 2: Morning at College
(Sara and Zoya are walking through the college courtyard, the early morning breeze making the surroundings lively. Sara, however, seems lost in her thoughts, her mind replaying yesterday’s scene at the library. She’s been trying to figure out what Ali was about to say before Zoya interrupted. Her heart races as the thought of him proposing crosses her mind.)
Sara (thinking to herself): “Wo kya kehne wala tha? Shayad propose…?”
(What was he about to say? Maybe propose…?)
(She shakes her head quickly, mentally scolding herself.)
Sara (muttering, frustrated with herself): “Pagal ho gayi hoon kya? Koi aise hi itni jaldi kaise propose karega? Hum dono toh ek doosre ko sahi se jaante bhi nahi.” (Have I gone crazy? No one proposes so soon! We barely know each other properly.)
(She’s so deep in her thoughts that she doesn’t realize Zoya is calling her. Zoya’s voice snaps her out of her daze.)
Zoya (loudly, with a grin): “Apa! Kahan kho gayi ho? Jaldi chalo, class shuru hone wali hai!” (Hey! Where are you lost? Hurry up, class is about to start!)
(Sara blinks, startled, and snaps back to reality. She quickly tries to hide her flustered expression.)
Sara (hastily): “Haan, haan! Aa rahi hoon, chalo.” (Yeah, yeah! I’m coming, let’s go.)
(Sara shakes off the thoughts of Ali and quickly runs to catch up with Zoya. They both rush toward their classroom, but deep inside, Sara can’t shake the lingering curiosity about what Ali was really going to say.)
Scene 3: Evening at the Dinner Table – Ali’s Home
(Ali and his parents are sitting around the dinner table, enjoying a quiet meal. The atmosphere is light, with the usual sounds of clinking cutlery. Ali looks up from his plate, a bit hesitant, but knowing he needs to say what’s on his mind.)
Ali (nervously clearing his throat): “Mom, Dad… mujhe aapse kuch kehna hai.”
(Mom, Dad… I want to tell you something.)
(His parents look at him, sensing the seriousness in his tone.)
Ali’s Dad (curious, raising his eyebrows): “Kya baat hai, beta?”
(What’s the matter, son?)
(Ali takes a deep breath, gathering his thoughts.)
Ali (carefully): “Mujhe ek larki pasand hai… aur main chahta hoon ke aap uske ghar rishta lekar jayein.”
(I like a girl… and I want you to take a proposal to her house.)
(His father’s face lights up in pleasant surprise, while his mother looks intrigued but not shocked.)
Ali’s Dad (smiling): “Wah! Yeh toh badi khushi ki baat hai. Kaun hai jo mere bete ko pasand aa gayi?”
(Wow! This is wonderful news. Who’s the lucky girl that caught my son’s eye?)
(Before Ali can respond, his mother speaks up with a knowing smile.)
Ali’s Mom (playfully interrupting): “Mujhe toh pata hai.”
(I already know.)
(His dad looks at her in surprise.)
Ali’s Dad (surprised): “Tumhe pata hai? Kaun hai?”
(You know? Who is it?)
Ali’s Mom (with a confident smile): “Haan, Ali. Ye wohi hai na? Jis se tum engagement mein mile the… Sara?”
(Yes, Ali. Isn’t she the one you met at the engagement… Sara?)
(Ali nods, blushing slightly.)
Ali (nodding): “Haan, Ma. Mujhe woh pasand hai aur main usse shaadi karna chahta hoon.”
(Yes, Mom. I like her and I want to marry her.)
(His mom’s smile softens as she watches him, and his dad nods approvingly. His mom then looks more seriously at Ali.)
Ali’s Mom (concerned but supportive): “Sara ko pata hai yeh sab? Woh bhi pasand karti hai tumhe?”
(Does Sara know all this? Does she like you too?)
(Ali shifts a little awkwardly, unsure how to answer.)
Ali (shaking his head): “Pata nahi, Ma. Usse meri aisi koi baat nahi hui abhi tak.”
(I don’t know, Mom. I haven’t spoken to her about it yet.)
(His mom chuckles, her confidence in her son unwavering.)
Ali’s Mom (teasing but serious): “Arre, meri bete ko koi kyun pasand nahi karegi? Main abhi un logon ko phone karti hoon aur kal ke din milne jaati hoon.”
(Oh, why wouldn’t she like my son? I’ll call them right now and arrange to meet them tomorrow.)
(Ali’s dad bursts out laughing, shaking his head as he looks at his wife.)
Ali’s Dad (teasing her): “Arre, tum excitement mein sab bhool gayi ho! Abhi toh raat ho gayi hai. Raat ko kisi ke ghar aise phone nahi karte. Subah baat karenge.”
(You’ve forgotten everything in your excitement! It’s nighttime already. We don’t call people this late. We’ll talk in the morning.)
(His mom pauses, realizing her husband is right, and then nods, smiling at her own eagerness.)
Ali’s Mom (grinning): “Haan, baat toh sahi hai. Subah karti hoon phir.”
(Yes, you’re right. I’ll call them in the morning then.)
(Ali smiles warmly, feeling a rush of gratitude towards his parents. He looks at them lovingly.)
Ali (softly): “Mom, Dad… aap dono amazing ho. I love you both.”
(Mom, Dad… you both are amazing. I love you.)
(His parents smile back at him, touched by his words. His dad chuckles and turns to his wife.)
Ali’s Dad (playfully): “Bhai, humare bete ne shaadi ka iraada kiya hai! Koi meetha toh khilao.”
(Wow, our son has decided to get married! Let’s have something sweet to celebrate.)
Ali’s Mom (getting up with a smile): “Haan, haan! Abhi laati hoon.”
(Yes, yes! I’ll bring it right away.)
(She hurries off to get something sweet while Ali and his dad exchange a warm, knowing smile. The room is filled with love, laughter, and excitement for the future.)
